À l’Europe!

dsc_0007Bound for a short stay across the channel: view from the Eurostar window(with husband and waterbottle!).  A long train journey is a good time to reflect on past practice – I’ve just completed three 60 cm x 60 cm pictures for an exhibition with the North Wales Artists’ Cooperative – here is one, but not very good quality as taken from my phone:

I love to work in this virtually monotonal way, but a recent visit to the Abstract Expressionist exhibition at the Royal Academy, London, makes me wonder if I should incorporate more colour? Enjoyed the exhibition more than I anticipated, and found it interesting and educational – I love the controlled technique of Jackson Pollock, which makes the picture at first look chaotic and random, but in fact is planned in detail.  And Arshily Gorky, with whom I haven’t previously been acquainted, was also worth a detailed look …
