At Wenlock Edge …

The road from Shrewsbury to Bridgnorth is one I’ve been doing quite a lot recently.  It is a beautiful route which leads you up Wenlock Edge, the sharp limestone scarp, which has inspired artists and poets – Lowry and Housman come to mind – not to mention Vaughan Williams and his song cycle which set Housman’s poems to music.

In this company it was probably presumptuous of me to have a go as well but here are two recent oils inspired by my journey:
