From the midst of Helfa Gelf Open Studios Event!!

Another really busy month.  After the Little Tern Conference, it was time to get our studio ready for Helfa Gelf, the Open Studio Event.  The studio has recently been enormously improved by our landlords, Mostyn Estates, who have installed internal cladding (nice and warm now!), beautifully painted in white.

The four of us at Ladder Store Studios, myself, Susie Liddle (prints and paper cuts), Megs Owen (textiles) and Tom Rogers (photography), with the temporary addition of jeweller Caroline Royal, decided to open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in September.

However this year I’ve managed to visit quite a few other studios, which is always really affirming and encouraging. photo-9 Highlights have been Barbara Larkin’s experiments with wax and paint, Pea Restall’s prehistoric hut in Haus of Helfa, Llandudno,
