It’s been a super week of working hard to get my exhibition together at the RSPB reserve in Conwy this weekend, 7th and 8th June. I’ve sold so many recently I didn’t have as many in reserve as I hoped.
Following a recent visit to London to see the Veronese exhibition, I decided that I ought to introduce more complexity into my paintings, and this was one of the results. The next is to be called ‘Parliament of Puffins’ – watch this space!
Veronese creates wonderful crowd scenes, where there is a central triangle of bodies in a relationship with each other, then much of the rest of the canvas is filled with other people, watching, reacting, or not apparently very interested at all. Beautiful work in so many other ways, but this was the inspiration for my own work that I carried away.
I am also continuing to develop the Senegal theme – the red earth, the amazing penetrating light:
Don’t think I will ever stop exploring this theme.
