Goldfinches guzzling, puffins surveying, it’s that time of year

Have been in ‘bird’ mode this last couple of weeks, inspired by the goldfinches guzzling niger seeds in the back garden.

But still can’t stop the paintings of puffins coming through.  They are starting to look out for nesting sites in Shetland already, which reminds me that two years ago I was there watching them.  These pictures are recollected in tranquility however, I didn’t sit on a cliff top painting them, at least not this year, yet!

I suppose these were really two versions of the same puffin, but the second was in slightly more thoughtful mood!
