Grayson Perry Treasure Ship Exhibition, British Museum

Grayson Perry Treasure Ship Exhibition, British Museum

I had to go to the Grayson Perry exhibition as he has borrowed one of my ideas, well strictly speaking we both got it from Peter Blake.  The photo shows my version of ‘Treasure Ship’, incorporating driftwood and mosaic, much better than Grayson’s version, I thought!

The GP exhibition was fun – it was difficult to spot which pieces were Perry’s and which were genuine BM ethnic artefacts if you didn’t look at the label.  But by the end I was beginning to notice that his work is ultimately superficial – he throws every image he can think of at a concept, and at best this is insightful and interesting, but after a while it just gets tedious.
